The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced the 2015 Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule would be void until 2020 while the agencies craft updated regulations that include a less broad definition of what constitutes federally protected water sources. This new action is intended to provide clarity and certainty about which WOTUS definition is applicable nationwide amid confusing judicial actions.
