Skanska has completed the renovation of Nashville’s historic 145,000-square-foot War Memorial Building, preserving the century-old landmark while modernizing it for future use. The project, which began in February 2024, included accessibility upgrades, restored the historic auditorium, modernized mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and reconfigured office space for the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office. Built in 1925 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building honors Tennessee soldiers who died in World War I. Skanska also used laser-cleaning technology to restore delicate terra cotta, bronze and granite features without damaging the building’s historic materials.
