The U.S. House of Representatives voted 393 to 13 to pass a measure that authorizes $4.35 billion annually for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs over five years. Nearly $3.3 billion per year is earmarked for infrastructure through 2023.

Among other provisions to strengthen passenger protections and ensure the safety of the system for the traveling public, the bill guarantees $1 billion annually for the small airport grant program. It also expands state block grant authority so 20 states now have more control over airport funds rather than the federal government.
