Per a new rule that takes effect Dec. 10, OSHA will accept crane operator certifications issued by “type” or by “type and capacity.” Employers must conduct and document operator evaluations via third-party certification or an audited employer certification program to fully comply. Employers that certified operators under the new standard prior to Dec. 10 will not have to do so again. Evaluation and documentation requirements will take effect Feb. 7, 2019.
