
Previously split in half by six-lane Memorial Drive, Houston’s 1,500-acre Memorial Park has connected its north and south tracts with a new land bridge built over two recently constructed sets of vehicular tunnels—each one 25 high and 54 feet wide. Among the companies that worked on the $70-million project, Western Specialty Contractors handled waterproofing of the tunnels, applying 160,000 square feet of bentonite clay with drain mat to the concrete structures’ exterior walls.
