Rule Governing Association Health Plans Takes Effect

Self-employed individuals with no other employees can now join an AHP along with their families.

In accordance with President Trump’s Executive Order 13813, the U.S. Department of Labor’s final rule allowing more employers to form association health plans took effect this month. Self-employed individuals who employ other people have always been able to join an AHP; now, self-employed individuals with no other employees can join an AHP, along with their families.
