Software & In the Cloud

Locusview equips utilities with a Digital Construction Managementplatform for managing infrastructure construction projects. The platform has mobile and web apps with real-time synchronization and integration to enterprise systems such as GIS and ERP for streamlined data flow. With Locusview Mobile, field crews collect digital as-builts with high accuracy GPS receivers and barcode scanners. Locusview Web gives back-office management real-time field visibility with alerts to enable rapid corrections and quicker close-outs.

Flexbase automates cash flow management. The software generates payment applications with AIA forms, schedule of values, lien waivers, notarizations, prevailing wage and insurance documents; and resolves late payments with follow-up notices and legal reminders. It also connects small construction companies to borrow working capital from dozens of national lenders.

Partnerships, Acquisitions & Integrations

Foundation Software has acquired McCormick Systems, provider of estimating software for the electrical, plumbing and mechanical trades.

Procore Technologies has acquired INDUS.AI, makers of an artificial intelligence-powered analytics platform for the construction industry. This acquisition adds computer vision capabilities to the Procore platform to help owners, general contractors and specialty contractors realize greater efficiency, safety and profitability.

ToolWatch’s cloud-based system now integrates with DEWALT TOOL CONNECT™ and is available to ToolWatch users. By combining DEWALT’s Tool Connect™ integrated Bluetooth functionality with ToolWatch’s intuitive solution for streamlining internal operations, ToolWatch users can synchronize DEWALT TOOL CONNECT tools, tags and chips to their ToolWatch inventory automatically. All item information, including tool records, job costs and billing, inventory quantity, transfers, service and calibration, and reporting, is accessed from ToolWatch.

Nextiles’ smart fabric is a washable material with built-in circuits to capture biometric data (the company is backed by the National Science Foundation). The Washington Post reports on Nextiles and other wearables, such as Apple’s smart fabric-based buttons that trigger controls on Apple products, Samsung’s smart garment t-shire that changes colors, and Google’s Project Jacquard that produced clothing that could answer calls and a shoe insole for data on soccer plays. Various universities are researching fabrics that transmit signals, turn into a display screen or warm or cool the wearer.
