Half of contractors say they’re still collecting data on jobsites manually, often with pen and paper, according to a new survey from TrackVia. As a result, 61 percent of construction and engineering executives say they have to make decisions with outdated data, leading to diminished work quality, project delays, compliance issues and soaring costs.
The top three manual data-related costs facing managers are costs related to quality/rework (76 percent), costs related to employee downtime (71 percent) and liquidated damages related to project delays (58 percent).
Additionally, executives with four or more data systems housing information from multiple jobsites spend an estimated 1,300 hours per year trying to use it, a 400 percent increase compared to those with a single system.
