The Red Sea Goes Green

by | Nov 7, 2024

If you're looking for a winter get-away, the Red Sea is now home to three new luxury vacation resorts.

The Red Sea is open for business with its first three resorts, Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea; St Regis Red Sea Resort; and Nujuma, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve, already welcoming guests. The properties are part of phase one of The Red Sea, a pioneering regenerative tourism destination on the west coast of Saudi Arabia. The destination is at the forefront of the global transition towards regenerative tourism—going beyond sustainability to have a regenerative impact on the environment, society and the economy.

760,000 solar panels and one of the world’s largest battery-storage facilities (1,300 MWh) power the resort. More than five million plants, shrubs and trees have been grown to create new thriving habitats, as well as an additional three million mangrove seedlings against an ambitious target of 50 million by 2030.
The resort is the first LEED Platinum hotel in Saudi Arabia, and developer Red Sea Global is the only developer outside the United States to make the 2024 LEED Power Builders list.
