Road Warriors: Making Work Travel Work Better

by | Dec 13, 2024

Work travel is back but not necessarily better. A new report reveals where workers wish they had more travel options.

Engine, a travel platform for booking and managing business trips, recently released its inaugural Powering Travel Trends Report analyzing the economic drivers and social impacts of business travel. Due to increasing demand for construction services and a shrinking workforce, construction workers are traveling more than ever before. Here are some key takeaways from the report:

• 93% of workers in travel-heavy industries have increased travel in the past year, with 56% spending three or more months away from home

• 44% of respondents in construction say they would consider switching to a new employer if they kept the same job and income but had more flexibility on work travel dates and could choose when they were away from home

• 84% of respondents who work in construction have asked for better
accommodations

• 44% of respondents who work in construction have encountered the problem of their hotel being too far from the place of work
