Operational Security: Combatting Rising Construction Crime With AI

by | Mar 28, 2025

Physical construction crime threats can sometimes be best combatted with virtual deterrents.

A recent ProVigil survey revealed that 36% of businesses polled (including construction respondents) said AI can be a helpful tool to combat physical security incidents, yet only 7% are doing so. Additionally, nearly a quarter of respondents fear rising crime in the year ahead. These are just a few key findings from the surveillance systems provider’s fifth annual State of Physical Security report.

To better understand the physical security challenges businesses are facing today, and the strategies they’re leveraging, Pro-Vigil polled business leaders across industries and found:

  • 91% report physical security incidents either increased or stayed the same in 2024
  • 23% of businesses believe rising local crime is behind an increase in security incidents

Installing surveillance cameras remains the number one change businesses made to their security strategy for the fifth consecutive year
