Oklahoma, Where the Wind Comes Sweeping Down the Gigantic Skyscraper

by | Feb 14, 2024

Oklahoma is the next frontier for major real-estate development.

New York City had a good run. Ditto Chicago. But if a real-estate developer and an architecture firm have their way, in about five years Oklahoma City will be home to the tallest building in the United States.

Matteson Capital and AO design firm have announced plans for the Boardwalk at Bricktown, a 5-million-square-foot mixed-used development near downtown OKC—the centerpiece of which would be a 134-story, 1,907-foot skyscraper. (Oklahoma was admitted to the Union in 1907.) The complex is also slated to include three 345-foot towers.

Known as Legends Tower, the mega skyscraper would require a height variance from the city. Speaking of which: What’s the deal with wanting to put America’s tallest building in Oklahoma City?

“Oklahoma City is experiencing a significant period of growth and transformation, making it well-positioned to support large-scale projects like the one envisioned for Bricktown,” says Matteson Capital CEO Scot Matteson. “It’s a dynamic environment, and we hope to see the Boardwalk at Bricktown stand as the pride of Oklahoma City.”
