Why is technology important to construction in 2023?

From a “standard” point of view, technology allows contractors and project managers to make more timely and informed decisions based on cost and labor data. From a more “aggressive” point of view, adapting state-of-the-art technology is inevitable due to the trend of fusing industrial technology. This kind of fusion pushes the development of technology in the industry, and those who do not want to jump on the wagon will be left far behind in a year or two.

What meal do you make when you really want to impress?

Preparing a big meal is the golden time for me to concentrate in the zone, like meditation. Most of the time there will be four to five traditional dishes or even a steak/lobster combo. However, the most impressive way is to create something good from all the leftovers in my fridge.

Is your glass half-full or half-empty?

Half full. I tell my daughter every day, “Always think positively, but prepare for the worst consequence.”

Which actor makes the best Batman?

Christian Bale, no doubt.

Where, to you, is the most beautiful place on Earth?

Physically, it’s the Big Island of Hawaii, where we spent our honeymoon. Spiritually, it’s my reading room, which is occupied by Tolkien, Asimov, Heinlein and other great minds.

What is the best way to resolve conflict at work?

Be transparent and respectful. Most conflicts are caused by miscommunication and misunderstanding, which applies to all problems on all levels.

How do you show employees they are appreciated?

It depends. Different people chase different goals, which makes them feel appreciated. Some are material incentives, some are public recognition and some are self-esteem and self-satisfaction. Therefore, you need to understand your team members’ desires to fully appreciate their achievements.
