Kinsley Construction, Inc. is a modern-day master builder with deep family roots. Headquartered in Central Pennsylvania, with offices in Baltimore and Hagerstown, Maryland; metro Washington, D.C.; and Eastern Pennsylvania, the company works with clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Kinsley delivers building solutions through preconstruction, construction management, general contracting and design-build services, but the firm’s most rewarding line of work is its dedication to bettering communities.
Kinsley’s commitment to community stemmed from the beliefs founder Robert (Bob) A. Kinsley and his wife, Anne Kinsley, practiced since the company’s inception in 1963. It has always been a part of the company philosophy to give back to the communities where its employees live and work. Bob and Anne believed that “if the community supports you, then you should support the community”—a message passed down to their five sons who now work together to lead Kinsley.
The top two organizations Kinsley supports regularly are the United Way and the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York, Pennsylvania. Employees provide monetary donations as well as volunteer for events like United Way’s Day of Action.
They also support major organizations who help people through education, training and health services. Kinsley recently implemented a new initiative, #BuildYork, that is focused on supporting the city’s revitalization and honoring the company’s deep roots, strong ties and big plans for its hometown.
Through the years, Kinsley has built strong ties with clients as well as other businesses and non-profits in the area. The #BuildYork initiative is focused on how Kinsley and its employees can help make a positive impact in the community, on and off the jobsite. Employees support and volunteer for more than 100 local organizations, which is something they’re very proud of and thankful for.
While the #BuildYork initiative is currently centered on the York office, Kinsley plans to implement it company-wide.
Employees are encouraged to participate in community events and give back when they can. Each year, staff participates in various organizations’ volunteer days, National Night Out, American Red Cross blood drives and more. Their efforts are recognized in the internal employee newsletter, social media posts and blog posts on the buildyork.com website.
Kinsley is managed by second- generation family executives, and a total of 15 family members are among the firm’s more than 1,300 employees. Robert Kinsley remains involved in all aspects of the company on a daily basis.
