Here’s a look at employment moves that occurred in the construction industry this month.
American Fire Sprinkler Association
Robert G. (Bob) Caputo, CFPS, was unanimously selected as president of the Dallas-based American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) by the association’s Board of Directors. Caputo is the former owner of Consolidated Fire Protection in the San Diego area and has held fire sprinkler contractor’s licenses in 23 states. Most recently, he was vice president for training and technical support for Fire & Life Safety America, based in Richmond, Va. His tenure with AFSA will begin on Nov. 1, 2020. AFSA and its federation of 31 chapters serve as North America’s largest fire sprinkler industry organization.
Bell & Associates Construction
Eric Pyle was promoted to lead the building division of Bell & Associates Construction (BELL).
Pyle joined BELL in 2002 as a team member in the field. Since then, he rose through leadership ranks to his most recent role as partner and project executive. Pyle also serves as vice chair of the ABC Greater Tennessee Chapter. He has served on the ABC board since 2018 and on the organization’s executive and legislative committees since 2019. BELL provides general contracting, design build, and construction management services across multiple sectors, including hospitality, office and transportation.
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP
Jim Archibald; Axel Bolvig; Ian P. Faria; Jon Paul Hoelscher; Douglas L. Patin; J. David Pugh; William R. Purdy; E. Mabry Rogers; and Robert J. Symon—partners with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP—were named by the 2020 edition of Who’s Who Legal as among the world’s leading construction lawyers. In addition, Rogers was listed in the 2020 edition of Who’s Who Legal: Thought Leaders—Construction, which showcases the lawyers and experts who are the apogee of the construction world. Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP has nearly 550 lawyers representing regional, national and international clients in various industries, including banking and financial services, construction, energy, health care, life sciences, manufacturing, real estate and technology.
HITT Contracting Inc.
Chairman Emeritus Russell A. Hitt—of HITT Contracting Inc.—passed away peacefully at home recently. He leaves behind a foundation of humble leadership, integrity and unwavering dedication that has become the core ideology of HITT Contracting. Our condolences to his family and the HITT Contracting team.
JLL
Travis McCready was named executive director and national practice leader of JLL’s Life Sciences industry practice. McCready will focus on partnering with local market teams to intensify JLL’s Life Sciences strategy across the country, while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and providing the full spectrum of JLL’s Life Sciences real estate services. JLL is a professional services firm that specializes in real estate and investment management.
LEO A DALY
Brian D. Freeman, PE—a mechanical engineer in Minneapolis—was appointed director of mechanical engineering for LEO A DALY. In addition, Abby M. Goranson, PE—a civil and structural engineer in Omaha, Neb.—was appointed director of structural engineering and Douglas W. Nelsen, PE, LC, Associate IALD—an electrical engineer and illumination systems expert in Omaha—was appointed director of electrical engineering for LEO A DALY, a global planning, architecture, engineering and interiors firm.
NCCER
Boyd Worsham was appointed CEO and president of NCCER. In 2018, Boyd, formally of The Haskell Company, was identified as successor to former CEO and president Don Whyte. In March of 2020, Boyd was given full operational oversight of NCCER. NCCER is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) education foundation created by the construction industry to develop standardized curriculum and assessments with portable credentials and certifications for skilled craft professionals.
Pure Safety Group
Jeff Ward was named chief executive officer of Pure Safety Group (PSG), the world’s largest independent height safety product development, manufacturing and training company. Previously, Ward was president of the company’s international operations.
Resolution Management Consultants, Inc.
Mitchell Swann joined Resolution Management Consultants, Inc. (RMC) as a managing director. Swann, formerly a principal of MDC Systems, brings extensive engineering, construction management and claims analysis expertise to RMC. Founded in 1993, RMC has assisted numerous private owners, public agencies and contractors in either achieving project goals or resolving cost and time disputes between the contracting parties.
Stevens Construction
Bruce Chartrand has joined Stevens Construction as project manager, and will lead the company’s hospitality, health care and commercial projects. Stevens Construction specializes in providing construction management, general contracting and consulting services to clients and design professionals.
Veit & Company, Inc.
Tim Reimann was named president of Veit & Company, Inc., a specialty contracting firm that manages commercial, municipal and industrial construction projects across the Midwest. Reimann will lead Veit’s efforts to grow the business, fulfill its commitment to safety, expand service capabilities and strengthen its position as a leading specialty contracting firm throughout the Midwest.
