WASHINGTON, Oct. 27—Associated Builders and Contractors today announced the launch of its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Roadmap for Contractors. This free roadmap helps any U.S. Department of Defense contractor or subcontractor within the Defense Industrial Base that handles Federal Contract Information or Controlled Unclassified Information become CMMC certified for Phase 1.
“Any federal contractor or builder that needs CMMC will find value in this roadmap because it will help them win more work and deliver that work securely,” said Matt Abeles, ABC vice president of construction technology and innovation. “Right now, this cybersecurity certification is limited to the DOD, but we expect it to expand to other government agencies and even private sectors soon. That’s why ABC is urging contractors to get ahead of the curve—build a cybersecurity plan, set up clear processes and use this roadmap to navigate the regulatory landscape.”
CMMC is a framework developed by the DOD to ensure cybersecurity standards are met by contractors handling sensitive information, enhancing protection against cyberthreats through compliance with specific security practices and processes. Specifically designed for DOD contractors, it ensures proper management of controlled unclassified information, federal contract information and required cybersecurity standards.
The roadmap is divided into two paths: Getting Started is for contractors trying to understand the first steps toward certification responding to a new customer or bid requirement, and Finish the Job is for contractors who have already begun the process and need to validate readiness before a customer review, readiness review or formal assessment. ABC members and nonmembers will find a toolkit, quick-start guide, checklists, videos, webinars and reports.
