ABC Applauds Trump Administration Action to Overhaul NEPA

A Council on Environmental Quality interim rule was enacted to repeal all previous NEPA regulations.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 20—Associated Builders and Contractors Vice President of Regulatory, Labor and State Affairs Ben Brubeck commended the Council on Environmental Quality’s interim final rule repealing all National Environmental Policy Act regulations previously issued by CEQ.

“This action represents a bold new approach to reforming our nation’s deeply flawed and onerous federal environmental review process, which for many years has slowed the development of critical infrastructure and unnecessarily increased costs,” said Brubeck. “ABC thanks the Trump administration for swiftly taking action on this important issue.

“This rule is the first step in a process where CEQ will have the opportunity to work with federal agencies on improving NEPA,” said Brubeck. “Going forward, ABC urges the Trump administration to ensure that agencies implement NEPA through a coordinated, predictable and transparent process that streamlines permitting while safeguarding our communities and maintaining environmental quality.”
