The majority of fleet safety professionals use telematics and GPS tracking to improve safety, per the 2022 Fleet Safety Report. The report, released by GPS Insight in partnership with Bobit Business Media, surveyed more than 3,400 industry professionals to better understand how to build a culture of safety. The study examines the safety concerns fleets experience, the solutions they take to address them, the gains realized through vehicle and video telematics as well as the tactics used to adopt these technologies across a fleet.

KEY FINDINGS

  • Respondents report an average of 4.5 accidents per driver per year, with more than a third of those attributing fault to the driver.
  • The top reason given for what motivates fleets to address safety concerns was reducing fleet maintenance costs.
  • Turning plans into reality was the primary pain point for 41% of respondents.
  • Seventy-four percent of respondents consider telematics and GPS tracking either “very” or “extremely” effective in helping to improve safety within fleets.
