With a full generation as America’s #1* construction accounting software, FOUNDATION® is building for the next. For some companies, that may look like selling a 35-year family company to a bigger firm or transitioning legacy software. For Foundation, it’s putting the second generation of leadership in position for success and investing in the development of additional products to support contractors.

NEW DEVELOPMENT AHEAD: PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This September, Foundation unveiled its brand-new project management platform to clients at its Smart Project Management class in Dallas. “This is a big part of our future alongside of accounting” said Steve Antill, vice president of business development, “and something we’ve been excited about for a long time. If we want to be the leading resource for construction businesses, that means both the back-office and the operations side.”

While the new cloud-based operations software will be available first to current clients, the industry will see more of it in the coming months and get the opportunity to begin using it for themselves afterward. “For us, it’s just the beginning,” Antill adds. “The features we’re showing today are just the tip of the iceberg. Project management is just the tip of the iceberg.”

APPRENTICING THE FUTURE

And with aggressive development goals, the company like the construction industry has had to be creative finding skilled talent. Facing a nationwide shortage of experienced programmers, Foundation runs its own apprentice program, training high-potential candidates under a full-time instructor. “It’s an investment,” CEO/founder Fred Ode says. “We’ve always believed that the key to our future is identifying potential and growing our own talent, and we’ve been seeing it pay off.”

Preparing for the next generation, building new projects for the future, and laying a pipeline for the talent to do so—Foundation Software is celebrating 35 years by laying claim to the next 35.
