Congratulations to GPS Insight fleet tracking company for construction, which made the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing privately held companies in North America for the seventh consecutive year. There is a host of new products and technologies for construction, from a sensor that sees through walls and a cap that detects fatigue; to cloud solutions that improve project collaboration, payroll reporting and 3-D visualization; to augmented reality paperless plans.

3DRTM  Adds SonyTM R10C Professional Grade Camera on Site Scan
3DR Site Scan + Sony R10C3DR, manufacturer of drone technologies for commercial and industrial use, now offers the  SonyTM  UMC-R10C professional grade camera with Site ScanTM, 3DR’s fully automated flagship aerial analytics platform. The 20MP APS-C size sensor captures 13 times the light of a 1/2.3-inch sensor found in DJI drone cameras for a higher signal-to-noise ratio and higher dynamic range. This, combined with the sharp 20mm Sony SEL20F28 prime lens, dramatically improves image quality and the quality of the maps and models generated by Site Scan. With the new camera, Site Scan achieves an impressive resolution of 0.5cm/pixel.

Smartphone Sensor
Walabot SensorThe WalabotDIY uses Vayyar Imaging’s 3-D sensor technology to “see through” walls. Users simply download the WalabotDIY app from the Google Play Store, connect the accessory to a smartphone USB port and hold it against a wall. The WalabotDIY magnetically attaches to the back of a smartphone to give a visual representation of what’s been detected, its orientation, what it’s made from, and how far away it is, to a depth of about 4 inches. Uses include showing plastic and metal pipes, electrical wires and studs; measuring cement, drywall and tile depth; and detecting movement behind walls.

Smartcap Technology Monitors Driver Fatigue
SmartCapThe SmartCap system for vehicle drivers or heavy vehicle operators provides real-time measurements of fatigue, based on direct physiological measurement of related symptoms. The system uses a Bluetooth wireless connection to transmit data from the SmartCap to an in-cab display, which provides real-time information to the operator and relays visual and audio alarms if specific fatigue criteria are met. The processor card is inserted in a connector on the cap or headband. Drivers keep their own cap with them and insert a card into the dock of their cap once inside the cab.

Trimble and Vermeer Introduce Trimble Ready Factory Program with a GPS Steering Option
Trimble and Vermeer introduced a Trimble Ready® factory option for the new Vermeer T1255III Direct Drive Terrain Leveler® surface excavation machine (SEM) that makes it faster and easier to install a Trimble® GCS900 Grade Control System. The Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System uses GPS to control cutting head depth and pitch. Operators can cut to the surface plan more precisely and eliminate rapid changes in cutting depth, which can impact productivity. Machine steering coordinates also can be provided by GCS900 to reduce human error for cutting head overlap and maximize the efficiency of the machine.
