The International Code Council (ICC) recently released cdpACCESS, a cloud-based tool for code development that will make the process open and transparent to people or entities that may be affected by the codes.  The tool allows users to submit code change proposals, stay on top of proposed code changes and offer commentary. It also allows code officials to more easily determine the outcome of proposed code changes.

The portal includes features that allow users to share information and opinions, as well as watch videos of comments made at the various the code development hearings. The cdpACCESS portal will allow users to:

  • collaborate online with one or many colleagues;
  • view, download and print the code change agenda;
  • submit floor modifications online at the committee action hearings;
  • vote online for assembly floor motions following the committee action hearing;
  • view, download and print the report of the committee action hearing;
  • create and submit online public comments to the committee action hearing results;
  • view, download and print the public comment agenda; and
  • allow ICC governmental member voting representatives and honorary members to vote online on proposed code changes and public comments following the public comment hearing.
The ICC is a not-for-profit, 58,000-member association of professionals and volunteers who develop, publish and enforce model consensus codes for building and fire safety. For more information on the ICC and cdpACCESS, visit www.cdpACCESS.com.
